| There are some wildfires burning north of Boulder here today. Boulder is about 30 miles northwest of Denver and we live in a suburb on the south side of Denver. We have had winds in the area of over 80 miles per hour. The news said a power line fell due to the high winds and started the fire. The wind is pushing it towards the north side of Boulder and is only about a 1/2 mile from the city and a large subdivision. No one has been hurt and hopefully that doesn't change. Now that the sun is down, the winds should die down some and slow the speed and growth of the fire. The locals news had some pretty amazing pictures from a helicopter showing how fast it grew and how close to the city it was by 5:30 PM tonight. |
